| Our schools work to educate children and to make them
smart, but what good is that if they do not know how to
live. Can the best grades ensure success as a person? There
are many who show that they can have a successful career
and yet their lives are a mess.
As parents we brought our children into the world and
have the responsibility for them; are teachers our assistants
or substitutes? We should approach the role of raising
wise children as if no one else will do it. We should
seek to show our children how to live wisely and manage
their lives well, showing them how to discern between
that which appears to be of value and that which is of
real value. They will be content in knowing that success
is much more than what they know, what they have, who
they know or what they can do and others will admire
them.
